tom teaching a student Winding Roads was founded January 1, 1996 when Tom Swenson teamed with Mobile Ed Productions to tour the very popular Our World of Robotics program throughout the United States. Winding Roads continued touring this program full-time for Mobile Ed for the next seven years. Tom added “character” show — Mark Twain to his repertoire for the last two years teaming with Mobile Ed.

During this period with Mobile Ed, Tom visited over 3000 schools, conducted hundreds of workshops and served over a million students. He learned the right balance of substance and entertainment in a performance, how to tailor a presentation to the abilities of each and every audience and how to work with schools and school personnel.

2002 brought big changes for Winding Roads. Tom felt it was time for Winding Roads to stand on its own both financially and artistically. Tom moved himself and Winding Roads to Las Vegas, Nevada. There he teamed up with a very talented educator, Beth Miller. From this synergy was birthed brand-new programs and workshops; and in 2006 a marriage!

In the summer of 2006, Beth, Tom, Winding Roads and their two dogs moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to continue to provide exciting learning opportunities for the learners of all ages throughout the Midwest.
