This program is your students’ opportunity to to visit with the famous inventor Thomas Edison! This
fast-paced program begins with our performer, Tom Swenson, setting the stage, both figuratively and actually using props and visual aids to quickly place the students at the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries, a crossroads of American history. He then quickly dons his costume and makeup and transforms himself into Thomas Edison right before the students’ eyes!
Using their imaginations, the students are then invited into Mr. Edison's workshop, where he discusses his life while tinkering at new inventions and demonstrates his "old" ones, such as the light bulb, phonograph,
movie camera and much more.
Our nation's, and perhaps the world's, greatest inventor treats his young
guests to a first-person account of his poignant life story, starting with his
humble beginnings, his struggles with learning differences and deafness, and
his remarkable inventions. Mr. Swenson is able to shape this program so it
speaks directly to whatever the age of the audience. Authentic props,
anecdotes, stories, and costumes all meld into a fast pace, exciting and
informative presentation.
LOTS of audience participation as well!
